Environment Artist (Mid/Senior)

Gunfire Games is looking for an Environment Artist (mid or senior+) for our upcoming titles. This role will work with Design and Art leadership to create incredible and breathtaking environments. The ideal candidate has a deep understanding of texture creation and shape language, and extensive experience world building. We want someone who will come in and hit the ground running: required to be a self-starter, must be highly motivated and able to work with minimal supervision. Position may be performed remotely but within the United States.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Use commercial and proprietary software to create incredibly high-quality 3D art assets to fulfill the needs of the project’s functional, art and technical specifications.

  • Understand the requirements and constraints of game design, engine, and platform.

  • Take direction in style and technique to ensure work aligns seamlessly with the artistic style and vision of the project.

  • Implement feedback effectively and efficiently

  • Keep constant communication between art team, production and design.

  • Estimate your tasks with a high degree of accuracy, executing deliverables on time and at the highest quality.

REQUIREMENTS

  • 3+ years of professional art experience in game development (mid-level), 5+ years for senior-level

  • Proficiency with Unreal, Photoshop, Zbrush, Substance and 3ds Max

  • Strong modeling and texturing skills

  • Solid fundamental understanding of artistic principals

  • Solid organizational skills with adherence to asset budgets and management

  • Excellent communication skills—you can articulate your process and seek/receive critical feedback

  • Willingness to learn commercial and proprietary software

  • Must be physically in the US and legally able to work in the US without employer sponsorship for an indefinite period of time

PLUSES

  • Shipped a AAA game

  • Unreal Engine 5 experience

Pay range: $70,000 - $120,000. Base pay and title offered will be based on candidate’s skills, experience, and other professional considerations.
